Blue Dragon by sandara Blue Dragon by sandara
Okay, this is the last dragon! :) Representing the Island lands! This one is my favorite out of the 5 I did.
Initially he did not have wings, but I was asked to add wings to make him consistent with the other dragons.

This was commissioned by www.pastimes.net
:)
This dragon will also be for sale in limited quantities at Gencon Indianapolis as a playmat!

You can get it as a laptop skin or cushion here : society6.com/sandara/Blue-Drag…

I think that it is very hard to capture the effect of a large dragon. You made it look effortless!
(P.S. do you intend to draw another dragon soon?)

The POV and Composition of this piece are amazing, as is the finish; it's very reminiscent of Ben Wootten's digital work.

The scale and balance of this piece is very well done. The size of the dragon compared to the ship gives a sense of size and feeings thinking that if i was a crew member on that ship and saw such a thing i would feel all hope was lost. Also the balance of the piece is nicein thefact that the dragon gives it the most weight on one side but does not overpower the picture.

There are two things I think you've managed really well here, both of which I struggle with in my own art sometimes:

1. The sense of size/scale. Your creation really is 'epic', and you've achieved that without making it at all cartoonish or farcical.

2. I love art that crosses the surface boundary of bodies of water - have tried to produce it a few times myself but it never comes out quite right. You on the other hand have managed to make it look like child's play. The play of light from above to beneath the surface, and that slightly odd bending of the light you get in these situations feels completely natural. Well done.

Very awesome. My one critique would be that if the dragon was more submerged so that the ship would only be able to see very little of the dragon but the larger portion of the dragon would be concealed to the ship although visible to the viewer as it is now. However still a great piece of art.

Exactly what I was thinking. I was laughing about the chances of the crew. Unless they have a team of Archmages on board or a Demon hoard they're not going to fare well.
