hades and persephone 1 by sandara hades and persephone 1 by sandara
uhmmmm since people are asking...

these 2 are hades and persephone, just prior to him abducting her. (thats' why he's staring like that)

i don't know if i'll finish up the pic... this roughwork thingy seems to be growing into a new style. i think i'll go back and fix his cloak though... it looks funny.

I loved this picture! Really beautifull!
I just have to be picky about the name. In theory, if she haven´t been abducted yet, you should call her "cora" (I don´t know if it´s the same name in english), she only becomes Persephone after she is forced to marry Hades because she ate a fruit on the underworld

Awesome picture, but to be honest, it seems more like Oberon and Titania's first scene from "A Midsummer Night's Dream".
OBERON:
Ill met by moonlight, proud Titania.
TITANIA:
What, jealous Oberon! Fairies, skip hence!
I have forsworn his bed and company.
OBERON:
Tarry, rash wanton! Am not I thy lord?

~* This is so beautiful! I love the story of Hades and Persephone because of the symbolism in the story. Although, I do have to admit that it's terrible of Hades to have kidnapped Persephone. *~

why abducting? what if they are truely in love? Opposites attract right?
He may be the god of the underworld, but what does that mean? He cant love?
I love the art.

It's how the legend goes : p Hades falls in love with persephone and abducts her.
Then, but the reason is different in other versions, they agree that persephone will spend half of the year in the world of the living and the other half in the underworld (with him). That way explaining the seasons. (when autumn begins persephone went back to the underworld until spring.. then she comes back). But I guess Hades truly loved Persephone thou.. I dunno about Persephone herself.

I love the sense of motion and tension in this pick. I can really imagine them walking by and stopping to look at each other. It's
pretty hardcore actually. Great contrast of light and darkness here. The fairies seemed to be like guardians or guides that may have warned her.
I would have never guessed it was a roughwork until you mentioned that. But to me, everything seems intentional in every way.
The great thing about conceptual art is being able to express certain emotional or perceptual content. If the art work was to be polished
any more perfectly, it would probably lose the emotional content. I could be wrong though. But I've seen some art works that appeared
perfectly drawn before, and upon interpretations, there doesn't seem an ounce of emotional content that I could find. It had that superficial feel
to them, as though they were paid to draw them. So a little imperfection does no harm at all. It's part of what makes us human. A soft stroke here, a hard
stroke there, these are part of the elements of expression in accordance to the visual message you seek to communicate to your viewers. With this one, I
think it's very well done. ^^

The style and color are awesome, I like it ; but if I dare say, I think the persephone's anatomy's pretty weird...  her tigh are too discarded of eachothers .. and her hips seem a little akward, so bad since it's very nice for the rest.

I was watching The Matrix Reloaded the other day and realized that The Frenchman called his wife Persephone . . . which got me wondering if he'd been originally called Hades.

Sorry, completely off topic - this is a great picture, and I think it captures the first meeting of these two exceptionally well.
